Swedish gay diplomat Dag Hammarskjöld who was at the time of his death a controversial secretary-general of the United Nations, died in an air incident in Africa on or around the 18th of September, 1961.

New eyewitnesses have come to light who claim a second aircraft fired at the plane, suggesting that the plane was shot down over Northern Rhodesia, now Zambia, 50 years ago, and the murder covered up by the British colonial authorities with the unspoken agreement of other major countries who wanted Hammarskjöld out of the way.

It is also now alleged that there was a survivor of the air crash, an American citizen and employee of the United Nations, a member of Hammarskjöld’s security staff, who was left to die in a basic hospital instead of being rescued.

In September 2013 a UN Commission appealed to the US to declassify NSA radio intercepts of warplanes in area where Dag Hammarskjöld’s plane crashed.
